2. System operations Functions Functions: Carries nutrients and oxygen to every part of the body Fights infection regulates Body temperature How it works with other organ systems: Works with respiratory system to supply Oxygen. Also carries waste and co2 out of the body

3. Diseases High Blood Pressure Heart Attack (occurs when an artery is blocked from delivering oxygen to the heart) Stroke (occurs when blood clots get stuck in a blood vessel leading to the brain)

4. Structures Heart (2 atriums- receive blood, 2 ventricles - pump blood out) Blood Vessels (arteries, capillaries, and veins) 2 Circulatory Loops (pulmonary and systemic)

5. how does it work? muscle around the heart (myocardium) helps pump blood through circulatory system as blood flows through the system, it travels through three vessels (arteries, capillaries, and veins) arteries carry blood from the heart to tissues capillaries bring nutrients to tissues and absorb carbon dioxide and waste. Veins transport blood to the heart

6. TYpes of cells and tissues major tissues major cells epithelial tissue- covers the heart red blood cells- carry oxygen muscle tissue-enables movement white blood cells-fights foreign organisms nervous tissue-send impulses connective tissue-Supports other tissues
