5. ZOOTECNIA-DEFINICION significa “ la ciencia que trata la cría animal ”. Adaptando esta definición etimológica a la realidad actual, podemos ampliarla definiéndola como “ la ciencia que mejora los animales mediante el perfeccionamiento de los métodos de reproducción, selección, sanidad y alimentación desde el punto de vista económico ”

TERMINOS COMUNES EMPLEADOS EN NUESTRO PAIS SOBRE EL TERMINO ZOOTECNIA En nuestro país, a pesar de emplearse muy comúnmente los términos zootecnia, producción animal y ganadería , muchas veces se emplean mal. Zootecnia es una ciencia cultivada por los profesionales del agro, siendo el fundamento científico de la ganadería , que es una técnica practicada por técnicos y ganaderos que hacen profesión y economía de sus actividades pecuarias.

7. LA INVESTIGACION ZOOTECNICA O PRODUCCION ANIMAL Actúa sobre cinco grupos de factores , por medio de los cuales puede efectuarse el mejoramiento económico de la producción . Estos factores son los ecológicos, hereditarios , de nutrición y alimentación, sanitarios y económicos . Todos ellos, al llevarlos a la práctica, se confunden en lo que denominamos manejo animal.
