Climatic zones of the Earth

Torrid Zone Means Hot Climate is usually hot and humid Winters are mild and cool Receives vertical rays of the sun Heavy rainfall is common

Temperate Zone Means moderate or mild There are 4 seasons Experiences slightly slanting rays of the sun Climate is neither too hot nor too cold Moderate rainfall is seen

Frigid Zone Means cold There are two seasons-winter and summer Winters last for 8-9 months Summers last for 3-4 months This zone receives very little sunlight and heat The climate is extremely cold Mildly cold climate is seen during summers

Life in the different climatic zones

Life in the Torrid zone Receives plenty of rain and sunlight Home to many plants and animals The denser is the forest

Vegetation Many dense forests grow in the Torrid zone. These forests are home to a variety of tress. rubber bamboo mahogany sal

The trees that grow in the forests in the torrid zone have the following features : They are tall. They have broad leaves They do not completely shed their leaves during any time of the year.

Wildlife Numerous animals are found here . Colourful birds and animals are also found here

Life in the temperate Zone The animals and plants found in this zone are different from the ones found in the Torrid zone. The climate is favourable.

There are two types of vegetation in the temperate zone: Grasslands Forests Deserts: Gobi desert in Asia Atacama Desert in south America

Grasslands: vast areas are covered by grass.

Forests These forests are of two kinds- Deciduous and Coniferous Deciduous Forests Have trees that shed their leaves in winter and regrow them in spring eg : maple, walnut oak Coniferous Forests have cone-shaped trees which grow close to each other at a uniform level. Eg : Fir pine cedar

Animals Grizzly bear,elk,bobcat,black bear and so on are found South Temperate zone Animals such as Ilama ,anteater etc During winters some animals such as monarch butterflies migrate to warmer regions

Life in the Frigid zone Mostly covered with snow and ice Only a few
