Chapter 2 : Globes and Maps Earth  is the third planet from the Sun and our home planet.  Earth  revolves around the Sun, but its average distance from it is 149 million kilometers / 93 million miles. It is the largest terrestrial planet. The other terrestrial planets are Venus, Mars, and Mercury. The name  Earth  is at least 1.000 years old.

We can get information about mountains, rivers, valleys or any other thing, which may come on the way, and we can prepare for that.

8. Compass A compass is an instrument to find directions on the surface of Earth. It is like a watch and has a magnetic needle which always points towards North. Once you know where North is, you can find rest of the directions. It is an important tool for sailors.
