ACTIVITY Leah Papa’s working hours for one whole week (from Monday – Saturday) is 8, 9.5, 8.5, 10, 8, and 11 respectively. Represent the data of her overtime with the use of a TABLE and a GRAPH .
MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY These are methods of representing a set of data using a number which supposedly is located in the center of the data distribution. There are three main measures of central tendency.
MEASURES OF CENTRAL TENDENCY MEAN simply refers to the arithmetic average of a data set. MEDIAN is the middle value or the midpoint in a data distribution. MODE refers to number/s that is/are most frequently observed in a data set.
MEASURES OF VARIABILITY These are summary measures of how spread out the data are in a set. There are many ways to measure variability.
RANGE is considered the simplest among the measures of variability as it only means the difference between the highest and the lowest observed data in a set. Its reliability becomes less when there is a data called outlier, which is considerably larger or smaller among the other data in a set. VARIANCE is a measure of how spread out the numbers are from the midpoint of the data distribution. STANDARD DEVIATION is the same measure as variance. Variance is square of standard deviation. MEASURES OF VARIABILITY
Solve the mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation of the data set below. Show your solution. 11
