Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs

While other schools of thought emphasize the overt and mechanistic nature of interpreting behavior, the Humanistic approach espoused by Dr. Abraham M. Maslow (a leader in Humanistic Psychology also called Phenomenological approach ) believes that “people are responsible for their actions and that they have “ free will ” and that their drive is towards “ growth and self-actualization .” M aslow proposed a schema, depicting a hierarchy of motives in man. Lindgren presents Maslow’s hierarchy as the Atom of Motivation which is linked to a tree or atom.

The Voice-Stress Analyzer: New Type of Lie Detector

The Polygraph as a lie-detector device has been much criticized because of its many flaws. A tense subject, reacting emotionally to the machine, may appear to be lying; while a practiced liar or a knowledgeable subject may simulate an air of being relaxed merely by diverting his mind or tense certain muscles . A new lie-detector called the Voice-stress Analyzer has improved on the Polygraph. This device measures changes in a person’s voice that are detectable to the human ear.

records several physiological indices such as blood pressure , pulse , respiration , and skin conductivity Used as interrogation tool Voice Stress Analyzer Polygraph Records psychophysiological stress responses Used as interrogation tool

Because voice cord tremors are controlled by the autonomic nervous system and therefore cannot be voluntarily controlled, it gives away the emotional state of the individual the moment of interrogation. This follows the same standard procedure that works in the polygraph machine.
