INTRODUCTION
All the industries coming under fishery termed as
fishing industry.
It start up with catching raw materials till its
final processing and marketing.
Fishing industry means ,a industry or an activity
concerned with taking, culturing, processing,
preserving, storing, transporting, marketing or
selling fish or fish product.
The industry is co operative plan of producers and
consumers.
It is divided in to two,
Based on nature of specification

Ancillary industry

MAIN INDUSTRY
It is directly connected to the fish
sector.
It involves the catching of raw
materials and till reaching its
consumer hand.
It include primary, secondary and
tertiary industries.

PRIMARY INDUSTRY
It involves production of raw
materials.
The raw materials are available by
two methods.
CAPTURE FISHERY
Fishing from aquatic resourses like
marine,reverine and esturine system.
CULTURE FISHERY
Culturing the fishes in ponds and
reservoir.

SMALL SCALE FISHERIES

INDUSTRIAL FISHERIES
Using relatively large vessel with a
high degree of mechanization.
They have advanced fish findings
and navigational equipment.
They have a high production
capacity and normally catch per unit
effort is relatively high.

SMALL SCALE FISHERIES
It is labour -intensive fisheries.
Use relatively small capital and
equipment per person on board.
Low fuel consumption.
Fishing may be commercial or for
subsistence.

ARTISINAL FISHERIES
It is equated with small scale
fisheries, traditional fisheries.
It involves small amount of capital .
Use relatively small fishing vessel.
Making short fishing trips close to
the shore mainly for local
consumption.

CULTURE FISHERIES

Tropical water fishery as well as cold
water fishery takes place in three
ways, is pond fishery, reservoir
fishery and lake fishery.
Brackish water fishery take place
either in farms or in natural habitat.

SECONDARY SECTOR
It includes the handling of fish.
It include processing industry and pre-
processing industry.
Now in kerala there are large number of
fish processing industries are present.
Various processing technologies are
utilized by different plants.
The product include canning, drying
salting and smoking etc...
The raw fish as well as processed fish
bringing income to the national economy.

TERTIARY SECTOR
It involves transportation and
distribution of product and
marketing.
It is a consumer ending sector.
It includes all the activities after
the fish is processed.

TETIARY SECTOR

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation divided in to, Line
and processed transportation.
Line transportation include
airways, road ways and shipment.
But in the case of processed
transportation its only by road and
shipment.
