CLASSIFICATION OF POWER AMPLIFIERS Dr.R.Hepzi Pramila Devamani , Assistant Professor of Physics, V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar
CLASSIFICATION OF POWER AMPLIFIERS Power amplifiers handle large signals. The input signals may drive the collector current to cut off or saturation region. The collector current may flow for part of the period of the input a.c . signal or may not flow during the entire period. The power amplifiers are classified according to the portion of the input cycle for which the collector current flows.
CLASSIFICATION OF POWER AMPLIFIERS Class A Power Amplifier is one in which the collector current flows for the entire cycle of the input signal. Class B Power Amplifier is one in which the collector current flows only during one half cycle of the input signal. Class AB Power Amplifier is one in which the collector current flows for more than half a cycle of the input signal but for less than full cycle. Class C Power Amplifier i s one in which the collector current flows for less than half a cycle of the input signal
