GROUP PRESENTATION/ REPORTING

VERTEBRATES – are animals with backbone There are five groups or classifications of vertebrates: Mammals Birds Reptiles Amphibians Fishes

Group Characteristics     Mammals Warm-blooded animals Covered with hair With mammary glands Most live on land Others live in water Characteristics of Vertebrates

Group Characteristics Birds Warm-blooded Only animals with feathers Lay eggs with shells With bill or beak

Fishes Breathes with gills, takes water with its mouth With tails and fins Covered with scales Lays eggs in water

Reptiles Terrestrial animals fully adapted to live on land Have dry scaly skin, some have scale some have shells Primarily breathe through their lungs for respiration Use their legs /feet for locomotion

Amphibians Cold-blooded animals Spend part of their lives in water and part on land Breathe through their gills when young, lungs when they grow old Have smooth, moist and scale less skins Lay eggs in water and develops through metamorphosis

Localization: In your place, what examples of vertebrates are present? Who already visited Nery’s Resort

How will you take good care of your backbone?

Are you familiar with this picture?

What are vertebrates? How many groups of vertebrates are there? What are they?
