CONTENTS Introduction Types of cosmetics for eye lids Eye shadow Mascara Eyeliner 2

INTRODUCTION Eyes are very sensitive part and point seeking point of the body so , care should be taken to maintain eyes. Care should be taken to preserve the eye and eyelids because the eyes are a particularly Sensitive area of the body. In addition to taking care of oneself, one must also clean one’s face And apply makeup. 3

TYPES OF COSMETICS USED FOR EYE LIDS Eye shadow – Eye shadows are used to give the eye’s backdrop color. Eye mascara : A common cosmetic for enhancing the look of eyelashes is mascara. The Eyelashes could get darker, thicker, or longer. Eye liner : Applying eyeliner around the eye’s contours is a cosmetic technique for defining the Eyes . 4

EYE SHADOW Eye shadows are used to give a background of color to eyes. They are formulated in various shades – conventional shades are blue, green and brown. They may be either in solid form or liquid paste form. Solid form of the eyeshadows are in powder compact form, oil based stick type or pencil type. Liquid base form of eye shadow may be oil base paste or emulsion type: O/W type or W/O type. 5

INGREDIENTS OF POWDER EYESHADOW: Zinc and magnesium powder – binders Silica, nylon, dimethicone, boron nitride, or bismuth oxychloride – slip agents Glycol and tocopherol – preservatives Talc – absorbs oil Dimethicone - improves the quality of powder and provides a smooth texture. Ethylhexyl palmitate - Adjusts the consistency of makeup Zinc stearate - Acts as a lubricant and repels water 6

INGREDIENTS OF LIQUID PASTE EYESHADOW: White petroleum- lubricant and moisturizer White beeswax- oily base as moisturizer Spermaceti- lubricant Lanolin- forms emulsion and blends well 7

MASCARA Mascara is a cosmetic commonly used to enhance the eyelashes.  It may darken, thicken, lengthen, and/or define the eyelashes.  Normally in one of three forms—liquid, cake, or cream—the modern mascara product has various formulas; however, most contain the same basic components of pigments, oils, waxes, and preservatives. 8

DIFFERENT TYPES OF MASCARAS Water non-resistant mascara Water proof mascara CLASSIFICATION OF MASCARA BASED ON THEIR STATE  1) Powder Mascara: Powder Mascara is very different from wet and dry mascara. You add a few drops of water into it and use it with a wand. The mascara sets to give a false eyelash kind of a finish. 2) Cream Mascara: Creamy Mascara provides volume to thin and sparse eyelashes and adds depth to the eyes. But this can smudge easily so you will need a special kind of applicator for it. 3) Liquid Mascara: These mascaras are easily found and the most common of all and are mostly used by women who have slightly curled lashes. It enhances and sharpens the lashes. These are available in both water resistant and water-soluble variants. 9

Water non resistant mascara Ingredient Concentration (% wt.) Examples Color 1-12% iron oxide, mica pigments Emulsifier 3-10% myristoyl, penta/hexapeptides Emollients 25-50% oils (jojoba, wheat, argan) Texture modifiers 5-20% hydroxycelluose, waxes Preservative 0-1.5% phenoxyethanol, propylparaben Film formers 1-8% silicones, dimethicone Solvent Q.S water, petroleum distillates 10

Powder mascara The polymer may also be chosen from hydrophilic polymers, for instance: polyvinyl alcohols, polyalkylene glycols such as polyethylene glycols, preferably those that are in solid form at 30° C., proteins, especially proteins of plant origin such as wheat or soybean proteins, and proteins of animal origin such as keratins, cellulose-based polymers polymer may be chosen from lipophilic polymers, for instance: linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alkylcelluloses with an alkyl radical comprising up to 8 carbon atoms, especially ethylcellulose and propylcellulose , copolymers of a vinyl ester, for instance vinyl acetate/allyl stearate, vinyl acetate/vinyl laurate, vinyl acetate/vinyl stearate, vinyl acetate/octadecene, vinyl acetate/octadecyl vinyl ether, vinyl propionate/allyl laurate, vinyl propionate/vinyl laurate, vinyl stearate/1-octadecene, vinyl acetate/1-dodecene, vinyl stearate/ethyl vinyl ether 14

Among the waxes that may be used in the context of the invention, mention may be made of: “polar” waxes, for instance beeswax, lanolin wax; rice bran wax, carnauba wax, candelilla wax, ouricury wax, Japan wax, berry wax, sumach wax, montan wax, the waxes obtained by hydrogenation of animal or plant oils containing linear or branched fatty chains, such as jojoba oil, sunflower oil, castor oil, coconut oil, lanolin oil, olive oil esterified with stearyl alcohol, or castor oil esterified with cetyl alcohol, “ apolar ” waxes such as microcrystalline waxes, paraffins, ozokerite, polyethylene waxes, silicone waxes and fluoro waxes Among the pigments that may be used in the mascara of the invention, mention may be made of titanium dioxide, optionally surface-treated, zirconium oxide, zinc oxide or cerium oxide, and also iron oxide or chromium oxide, manganese violet, ultramarine blue, chromium hydrate and ferric blue, carbon black, and dyeing lakes, especially barium, strontium, calcium or aluminum lakes 15

EYE LINER Eye liner is a cosmetic used to define the eyes.  It is applied around the contours of the Eye. 17

TYPES 1. Liquid Eyeliner In liquid form. Applied with help of brush 2. Gel Eyeliner gel eyeliner comes in a pot and is applied with a small brush. Gel can also be used to create bold lines and cat like eyes 3. Eyeliner Pencil (Kohl) Comes as a pencil and applied directly to the eyelids to create a variety of aesthetic effects. 18
