Case Presentation 25-year-old female medical student Previously healthy Asymptomatic neck mass Discovered on examination No associated symptoms No family history of thyroid diseases or endocrine disorders No exposure to ionizing radiation

Physical Examination And Lab Findings 2 cm non-tender firm mass Moves up and down with swallowing Normal thyroid function tests (TSH, T4)

01 02 03 Differential Diagnosis 04 Thyroid Nodule Lymphadenopathy Lipoma Branchial Cleft Cyst 05 Lymphadenitis 06 Malignancy

Most Likely Diagnosis: Thyroid Nodule (Benign) Location: right side of the neck Mobility: moves up and down with swallowing Age: can occur in young adults Normal thyroid function tests (TSH and T4)

Rule Out Other Diseases Occur anywhere in body Don’t move Ultrasound for final diagnosis Can be localized or generalized Usually doesn’t move Often due to infection Has associated symptoms Tenderness/ drainage Present near collarbone Pain Can cause discomfort Lipoma Lymphadenopathy Branchial Cleft Cyst Tenderness Signs of infection Lymphadenitis

Risk of Malignancy RF Age & sex Females > 40 F amily history thyroid cancer cancer syndromes Personal Medical History Exposure to ionizing radiation Graves disease Features Nodule growth Hoarseness Ultrasound: irregular borders, microcalcifications, high BF in nodule

Management Ultrasound FNA

Treatment Monitoring Medication Surgery Radioactive iodine ablation
