T Career Management System / Interactive Detailing (CMS/ID)
Spring.2009 (Rev.1)
VIEW SCHEDULE TO DETERMINE WHEN TO SUBMIT APPLICATIONS
Go to CMS/ID (https://www.cmsid.navy.mil/). Near the bottom of the login page, select Click
Here.
Go to the NPC website (http://www.npc.navy.mil). Click Enlisted Assign. > Career
Mgmt System > CMS/ID Calendar Style Schedule .
ACCESS CMS/ID THREE DIFFERENT WAYS
Via Navy Knowledge Online (NKO)
Login to https://wwwa.nko.navy.mil.
Under the Career Management heading, select CMS - Interactive Detailing.
NOTE: When asked to verify your PKI, choose the DoD CA-XX certificate, not the email certificate.
Via CMS/ID using CAC only
Go to https://www.cmsid.navy.mil using your CAC and PIN. When asked to verify your PKI
certificate, choose the DoD CA-XX certificate.
Login to CMS/ID using your user name and password.
Your user name and password are now connected to your CAC. The next time you access
the CMS/ID web site, you will need only your CAC and PIN.
Via NKO at Sea (for Sailors assigned to afloat commands using the NIAPS 2.X server)
Login to an UNCLASS workstation and access the Distance Support portal.
Login to NKO at Sea. (You may have to establish a new account.)
Under the Career Management heading, select CMS - Interactive Detailing.
VIEW OR MODIFY YOUR JOB PREFERENCES AND CAREER INTENTIONS
Select the Preferences tab.
Select a preference for one or more of the categories. (Use the numbers 1 through 5, with 1
being your most desired preference. Each number can be used only once.)
Select Click here for 2nd page.
Indicate a Career Intention. (This step is required.)
Click UPDATE.
UPDATE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Select the User Profile tab.
Enter your email, phone and security question/answer.
Click UPDATE.
NAVIGATE YOUR CMS/ID HOME PAGE
Select the Home tab.
Read and make note of any alerts or notification that may appear in a pop-up window, then
click OK to close the window. (If you have questions, see your Command Career Counselor.)
Review Navy’s First Five Jobs, First Five Jobs Matching Your Preferences ,
and Incentivized Jobs. (You will see jobs only during the Application Phase.)
Review current and historical application information.
Select jobs for comparison or view job details (see below).
CONDUCT JOB SEARCH, VIEW JOB DETAILS, COMPARE JOBS
Select the Jobs tab.
Enter the desired search criteria using the selection options. Your Paygrade will be selected
automatically, but you must enter your Community.
Click SEARCH. Results appear below the search area.
Click the Activity name on the appropriate job to view job details.
For a side-by-side comparison, use the boxes on the left to select desired jobs.
Scroll down and select Proceed to compare selected requisitions . Selected jobs
will be displayed five at a time. Use the Next button to navigate through selections.
To narrow the field, select the box(es) of the job(s) you want to “keep” and then select
Compare Selected Requisitions .

Career Management System / Interactive Detailing (CMS/ID)
VIEW GSA JOBS
Select the Home tab. GSA Jobs for your rating and paygrade are displayed automatically.
If you wish to search all GSA jobs, select the Jobs tab.
Select GSA Jobs in the Categories section to include rating-specific GSA jobs.
Select 90GS in the Community drop-down menu to include general-duty GSA jobs.
NOTE: GSA jobs will be displayed (in a purple table) before all other search results. Rating-specific GSA
jobs will be listed before general-duty GSA jobs.
SUBMIT A JOB APPLICATION
From the Job Comparison or the Job Detail page, click Proceed to Application
Screen.
Select your preference for the application (1 is the job you most prefer).
Use Sailor Comment field to communicate with your Detailer.
Select AIP bid (for AIP jobs only).
Select Apply.
Acknowledge and make note of any Application Eligibility Flags (these advisories regarding
administrative issues must be taken care of before your orders can be written).
NOTE: If your application triggers an Application Eligibility Gate, the system will reject the application. If
you wish to apply for a job that triggers a Gate, use information provided on your Home page to contact your
Detailer.
Once applications have been submitted, you may review, edit, or even delete them by using the
Edit/Review tab.
VIEW YOUR PERSONAL CAREER INFORMATION
Select the Personnel tab.
IMPORTANT : The Personnel Detail page is a real-time snapshot of data in your record that may affect
whether or not you are eligible for a job. You should review this information 12-18 months prior to your PRD
and before every Career Development Board (CDB).
Review all Professional, Personal, and Support information.
Enter/modify the highlighted contact data as needed.
Click UPDATE.
At the bottom of the page, click View Sailor History.
Review and take action to update career information, as necessary.
