Located at Kudgi village of Basavana Bagewadi, Tq Vijayapur district, Karnataka in India. One of the Coal based thermal power plant of NTPC Limited . Coal is supplied from NTPC’s Pakhir Barwadih coal block in Jharkhand. Water source is from reservoir of Almatti Dam. NTPC has installed capacity of 2400MW (800 x 3 MW). Doosan Power system India Pvt Ltd will supply Steam Generator. Toshiba JSW Power Systems Pvt Ltd will supply super-critical Steam Turbine. Total land acquired 3352 acres . NTPC Kudgi Thermal Power Station: Power allocation is Karnataka(50%), Telengana(17%), Tamilnadu(15%),Kerala(5%), unallocated(15%).
COAL HANDLING PLANT The initial process in the power generation of a coal-based power plant is coal handling. CHP includes different operations and different steps as follows below: Steps involved: Coal delivery Putting coal on conveyer belt with the help of paddle feeder Separation of unwanted materials from coal Crushing of coals by Crusher Storing of processed coal at outdoor and covered storages Use of Stacker and Reclaimer [CHP ]
The Control Room of Thermal Power Plant ‘s CHP serves as the nerve centre for monitoring and controlling various activities related to the handling and process of coal. The primary objectives of the CHP control room is ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of coal to power generation units, optimizing, efficiency and maintaining safety standards. Safety is of paramount important in the CHP control room and operators are trained to response swiftly to any abnormal situations. : CHP CONTROL ROOM
STACKER CUM RECLAIMER: The rail mounted stacker cum reclaimer is suitable for serving two parallel stockpiles, one on either side of the track rails. The machine is designed to operate with a yard conveyor for stacking and discharging at the same end during recollect Operation of machine: Stacking:- Reclaiming
MODERN TECHNOLOGY Previous Generation New Generation Basic automation and manual controls Lower throughput and efficiency Higher environmental impact (dust and noise) Limited safety features Frequent maintenance requirements Higher operational efficiency and throughput Improved environmental controls (dust and noise reduction) Enhanced safety features and compliance Predictive maintenance and greater reliability The advancements in new generation stacker-cum-reclaimers significantly improve the efficiency, safety, and environmental impact of coal handling operations, making them a crucial investment for modern coal handling plants.
CONCLUSION: The internship was a useful experience for me. I have gained new knowledge and skills. Learnt practical and theoretical knowledge of Mechanical engineering. Helps to understand how projects are conducted in real world scenario. This was a briefly presentation about my internship experience at NTPC kudgi . Getting an internship at NTPC kudgi showd me the difference between learning in theory and in pratice .
