WHAT IS COALITION GOVERNMENT ?

IN SIMPLE TERMS , REDUCING THE DOMINANCE OF ANY ONE PARTY WITHIN THAT COALITION. It is used to indicate an alliance or temporary union between various political groups for the exercise or control of political power. Logo here

Two features of coalition government include: 1. It is a collaboration of several political parties o form he government reducing he dominance of one single party. 2. It is formed when no single party is able to achieve a required majority in the Parliament. Logo here

THE IMPACT OF COALITION GOVERNMENT It has eliminated the fear of one-party dictatorship. Different groups and regions have gotten due representation in the government. Coalition governments have allowed parties to build consensus on different issues. Coalition governments have expressed regional aspirations and interests of various groups.

THE ROLE OF PRIME MINISTER IN COALITI0N GOVERNMENT: The coalition government is a cabinet of a parliamentary government in which many political parties cooperate, reducing the dominance of any one party within that coalition. The Prime Minister is the head of the Cabinet minister and he also give the advice to the president in different issues . The Prime minister is the true head of the country. In democracy, When no party gets majority in the parliament, then multiple parties forms the government and the person who is most capable of leading such coalition serves as the PM of the nation.

ADVANTAGE AND DISADVANTAGE Consensus or majority based decision are taken considerings views of every party . Regional aspirations are fulfilled or considered. Favours nationalism and lowers regionalism.Lowers tyranny of government. More responsible government. encourages spirit of power sharing. does not allow power to remain in single party. also helps as opposition party if it loses the election Unstable government. Time consuming process of decision making . Sometimes National interest is kept aside for accomplishing regional interest. Generally appeasement policies are considered rather developmental policy. formed after the elections. Late decision is taken. cannot voice its opinions properly. Logo here 7

NDA NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE.

NDA – BRIEF current government we are in !! The  National Democratic Alliance  ( NDA ) is a political alliance of Indian center-right and right wing political parties. The coalition is led by the BJP from 1998 . Its first chairman was late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In the 2019 general election, the Alliance further increased its tally to 353 seats with combined vote share of 45.43 %. As of March 2020, the BJP holds a majority of Legislative Assembly in 12 states - Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka,  Madhya Pradesh , Manipur, Tripura,  Uttar Pradesh and  Uttarakhand. In Haryana, BJP shares power as the senior partner (Chief Minister of BJP) with Jannayak Janta Party. In 8 other states, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu (Although, BJP has not a single seat in Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly) it shares power as Junior Partner with other political parties of the NDA coalition. The BJP has previously been the sole party in power in Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan. It has also ruled Jammu and Kashmir,  Maharashtra,  Punjab and Puducherry as part of coalition and alliance governments. The BJP has never been in power in 3 states-Kerala, Telangana (between 1999 and 2004 BJP in alliance with TDP ruled a United Andhra Pradesh) and West Bengal. Logo here 10
