The color wheel is a wheel that has the primary, secondary, and tertiary
colors.
Primary colors are colors that have not been mixed, cannot be broken
down. These are red, blue, and yellow. Secondary colors are made up
of two primary colors. For example, red and blue is violet (purple.)
Yellow and blue is green. Red and yellow is orange. Tertiary colors are
primary and secondary colors mixed. If you look at the color wheel
below, you can see the different colors like violet red. I will read the
color wheel for you starting from yellow and going to the right.
What would you get when you mix
red and blue?
Hint: Look
between the
red and the
blue.
Great job! You would get violet!
What would you get when you mix yellow and
blue?
Hint: Look
between yellow
and blue.
Awesome! You would get green!
Now, what would you get when you mix red and
yellow?
Hint: Look
between red and
yellow.
Great job! You would get orange.
Now we are moving tertiary colors. Tertiary
colors are primary colors and secondary colors
combined into a wonderful world of tertiary
colors.
Let's talk about orangeyellow.
Orangeyellow is a mixture of
orange and yellow. Look on the
color wheel and see if you can find
orange yellow.
Next in the color wheel is redorange. Once
again, it is a mixture of red and orange. Red
orange is near orangeyellow on the color
wheel. See if you can find it!
Next is violetred. Of course,
it is a mixture of violet and
red. Can you find it on the
color wheel?
Now blueviolet is in the
spotlight. I think you know.
It is a mixture of blue and
violet. It is the next tertiary
color on the color wheel.
Can you find it?
Here is the tertiary color that
I think most people know.
Bluegreen. What is it a
mixture of? Great! Blue and
Green. Look for it on the
color wheel.
Now to the last tertiary
color. Yellowgreen. This
color is most common
around the world. It is a
mixture of yellow and
green. Look for it.
Well, there you have it. The whole color wheel.
Thank you for watching our color wheel slide
show.
