A comic strip is a sequence of drawings
arranged in interrelated panels to display
brief humor or form a narrative, often
serialized, with text in balloons and
captions. Traditionally, throughout the
20th century and into the 21st, these were
published in newspapers, with horizontal
strips printed in black-and-white in daily
newspapers, while Sunday newspapers
offered longer sequences in
special color comics sections.
CARTOON.
The word cartoon has various meanings, based on several very
different forms of visual art and illustration. The artists who draw
cartoons are known as cartoonists.
The term has evolved over time. The original meaning was in
fine art, where cartoon meant a preparatory drawing for a
piece of art, such as a painting or tapestry. The modern
meaning refers to both humorous illustrations in print and
animated films. Even more recently, there are several contemporary
meanings, including creative visual work for electronic media and
animated digital media. When the word cartoon is applied to print
media, it most often refers to a humorous single-panel drawing or
gag cartoon, most of which have typeset captions rather than speech
balloons. The word cartoon is sometimes used to refer to a
comic strip,[1] and it can also refer to a humorous illustration for
fiction or nonfiction published in newspapers and magazines.
•Anime in English usually refers to a style of animation originating
in Japan, heavily influenced by the manga (Japanese comics)
style and typically featuring characters with large eyes, big hair
and elongated limbs, exaggerated facial expressions, brush-
stroked outlines, limited motion and other distinctive features. The
term may also be used for other animation connected to Japan or
to anime proper, irrespective of style. The word comes from
Japanese(アニメ?, an abbreviated pronunciation in Japanese of
"animation", pronounced [anime] ( listen) in Japanese, but
typically /ænəme /

•While the earliest known Japanese animation dates from 1917,
and many original Japanese cartoons were produced in the
ensuing decades, the characteristic anime style developed in the
1960s - notably with the work of Osamu Tezuka - and became
known outside Japan in the 1980s.
•Anime, like manga, has a large audience in Japan and recognition
throughout the world. Distributors can release anime via television
broadcasts, directly to video, or theatrically, as well as online.
•Both hand-drawn and computer-animated anime exist. It is used in
television series, films, video, video games, commercials, and
internet-based releases, and represents most, if not all, genres of
fiction. Anime gained early popularity in East and Southeast Asia
and has garnered more-recent popularity in the Western World.

In an effort to promote appreciation of Filipino folk narratives
nationwide, the National Book Development Board has
commissioned your publishing house for a project. Being a graphic
designer/writer of a popular children’s book, you were asked by the
publishing house to develop, write, and illustrate a relevant and
representative Philippine folk narrative as an anime comic strip.
Since their target market is the 10-12 year old upper elementary
students, they want your work to present creatively the elements of
narrative and exhibit a craftsmanship that will ensure the product’s
marketability.
