What is Community Service? Community Service- Services volunteered by individuals or an organization to benefit a community or its institution. FBLA- Service , Education, Progress FBLA Goal #4: Encourage students in the development of individual goals that contribute to the improvement of home, business, and community.
How can community service improve your chapter? Community Service can… Positively promote FBLA in school and community Encourages members to get involved in chapter activities Increase interest in FBLA activities/events Teach students responsibility and selflessness Develop more knowledge of needs in community Increase relations among FBLA and other organizations/businesses
Where can your chapter Serve? Encourage your Students to find areas in your community that are in need of assistance- Examples of places to serve: Homeless Shelters Medical Facilities Nursing Homes School/Community-wide Events Food Pantries Animal Shelters Community Centers After-school Programs Contact businesses and organizations in your community to find ways for your members to get involved and serve others!
Community Service Recognition and Award Programs FBLA members are encouraged to participate in Community Service activities throughout the year to gain leadership and life skills by serving others. However, members can also receive recognition for their service accomplishments through two service programs promoted by FBLA- Community Service Awards (CSA’s) President’s Volunteer Service Programs (PVSP)
