Adjectives
Adjetivos curtos, acrescentamos er
ao adjetivo
The man is older than the woman.
(O homem é mais velho do que a mulher.)
Se o adjetivo terminar com y, precedido de uma consoante, troca-se o y pelo i
antes de acrescentar o –er.
FUNNY - FUNNIER (engraçado - mais engraçado)
PRETTY - PRETTIER (linda - mais linda)
Example:
Ana Hickman is prettier than Eliana.
Se o adjetivo tiver apenas 1 sílaba e terminar com CVC (consoante + vogal +
consoante) , dobra-se a última letra antes de acrescentar o –er.
Big - bigger (grande - maior)
Fat - fatter (gordo - mais gordo)
Se o adjetivo for longo, ou seja,
tiver 3 ou mais sílabas, a regra
mudará.
Utilizaremos a fórmula:
MORE += adjetivo longo + THAN
Intelligent - more intelligent than
Romantic - more romantic than
Elegant - more elegant than
Examples:
