Comparison of contract sensitivity using the digital contract sensitivity chart and traditional Pelli -robsons chart PRIMARY INVESTIGATOR: S .YUVANJALI GUIDE:Dr.ANU B JOHN CO-GUIDE: SUSIKARAN

INTRODUCTION Contrast sensitivity testing is an important part of the functional assessment of the visual system The are different types of contrast sensitivity test of which the Pelli- robsonchart testing is the most commonly used. It is quick, easy and has good sensitivity for screening congenital contrast sensitivity defects. With everything becoming digitalized the contrast sensitivity test are also be done on digital screen but there is limited research done to establish the validity of these test as a screening tool. So here in our study we are aiming to compare the digital contrast sensitivity charts with the traditional Pelli-robson charts . We also want to see if this digital method could replace the traditional Pelli- robson charts

AIM Comparison of contract sensitivity using the digital contract sensitivity chart and traditional Pelli -robsons chart

OBJECTIVES To find the significant difference between the values of digitast contrast sensitivity chart. To find the sensitivity and specificity of the digital Ishihara charts.

INCLUSION Age between 18 to 40yrs Patient who can read the alphabets Best visual correction of 6/12 or better Astigmatism less than +/-1.50D Early presbyopia Emmtropia All refractive error

EXCLUSION IOL Surgery(psuedophakia ; aphakia) Cataract Corneal problems Any systemic conditions Amblyopia Relative afferent pupillary defect Dilated pupil

METHOLOGY

ADVANTAGE Clear Evaluation of Two Methods It provides the strengths and weaknesses of each test, providing practical guidance for clinical applications Potential for Standardization: It may help establish guidelines on which contrast sensitivity test is best suited for various clinical or research situations. Cost and time saving DISADVANTAGE

REFERENCE The study of Hegde PG, Rao D, Prudhvi B, Hegde N. on Digital contrast sensitivity chart with varying visual acuity: Development and validation was done 52 participatants newly developed CS chart is efficient in examining the CS in clinical practice and has good repeatability; it may help in the early detection and monitoring of ocular diseases. The study of Zeri F, Calcatelli P, Funaro E, Martelli M, Naroo SA. was t o evaluate the accuracy and repeatability of a computer-generated Pelli-Robson test displayed on liquid crystal display (LCD) systems compared to a standard Pelli-Robson chart was done 32 participatants Computer-generated versions of Pelli-Robson test, displayed on LCD systems, do not provide accurate results compared to classic Pelli-Robson printed version. Clinicians should consider that Pelli-Robson computer-generated versions could be non-interchangeable to the printed version Hegde PG, Rao D, Prudhvi B, Hegde N.
