Noli Me Tangere Noli Me Tangere Noli Me Tangere, novel by Filipino political activist and author José Rizal, published in 1887. The book, written in Spanish, is a sweeping and passionate unmasking of the brutality and corruption of Spanish rule in the Philippines (1565–1898).

Noli Me Tangere Is a love story or a romantic novel, dedicated to our motherland In the novel’s dedication, Rizal explains that there was once a type of cancer so terrible that the sufferer could not bear to be touched, and the disease was thus called noli me tangere (Latin: “do not touch me”). He believed that his homeland was similarly afflicted. Its description of the cruelty of Spanish rule was a catalyst for the movement for independence in the country. It later came to be regarded as a classic of Philippine literature, though it is more frequently read in English or Tagalog translation than in its original Spanish.

The purpose of the book Noli Me Tangere To defend Filipino people from foreign accusations of foolishness and lack of knowledge. To show how the Filipino people lives during Spanish colonial period and the cries and woes of his countrymen against abusive officials. To discuss what religion and belief can really do to everyday lives. The theme of Noli Me Tangere seems to expose the exploitations committed by the Spanish friars and government officials. The various friars in the book were arrogant, condescending to the Filipinos, and greedy

Why did Rizal wrote his novel Noli Me Tangere? JOSÉ Rizal wrote the Noli Me Tangere for the benefit of the Indios . But it was not meant for Indios to read. The mere fact that he wrote it in the Spanish language and not Tagalog tells us that he had a different audience in mind. Rizal and his contemporaries in the Propaganda Movement, who lived in Europe, apparently liked and fell in love with the idea of bringing liberal Spain to the Philippines.

El Filibusterismo El Filibusterismo , also known by its English title The Reign of Greed, is the second novel written by Jose Rizal and the sequel to Noli Me Tangere. Published in 1891, it continues the Noli's criticisms of the abuses and corruption perpetrated by the Spanish government.

El Filibusterismo Is a political novel associated with revenge and anger and is dedicated to GOMBURZA. The first is more on action and motion, the latter is thoughtful, discursive and dialectal. El Filibusterismo's theme seems to focus on how to reach a social reform and revolution. El Filibusterismo is considered one of the most influential novels written by Jose Rizal because the novel also portrays the abuse, corruption, and discrimination of the Spaniards towards Filipinos.

El Filibusterismo The protagonist of El Filibusterismo is a jeweler named Simoun . This is the new identity of Crisostomo Ibarra. In the prequel Noli , he escapes the ranks of the persecuting soldiers. It is revealed in the story that Crisostomo dug up his buried treasure, fled to Cuba, became richer and richer, and became friends with Spanish officials. The story of El Filibusterismo began with a steamer sailing from the Pasig River down Manila to Laguna De Bay. Among the passengers was Simoun ; Doña Victorina, a local pro-Hispanic woman, planned to go to Laguna to find her husband Tiburcio de Espadaña , fearful of his wife.

The purpose of the book El Filibusterismo To defend Filipino people from foreign accusations of foolishness and lack of knowledge. To show how the Filipino people live during Spanish colonial period and the cries and woes of his countrymen against abusive officials.

Why did Rizal wrote El Filibusterismo ? Rizal wrote El Filibusterismo in dedication to the three martyred priests Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora, expressing conviction that their treatment and deaths at the hands of the Spanish authorities was unjust.

What is the reason why Rizal wrote the two novels? Jose wrote two novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo  to show people how the Philippines were being bondaged by Spain. Jose made the Philippine League to get their first reform group and to get their freedom from Spain

What is the similarities of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo ? Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo have similarities in terms of aim and purpose. Both aim to enlighten the Filipinos on what is happening in the country. They want the people to fight for their country and have the total freedom.

In the two novels, the essence of Rizal’s nationalism is best understood through the keen study of the characters. Through their dialogue and actions, in their ideas and ideals, or in the lack of these are seen Rizal’s range of vision, his concept of love of country, his appeal for reforms, his attitude towards the friars, and his views on the weaknesses of the Filipinos.
