Welcome to Our Presentation Network Topology
What is network topology? A computer network is a collection of two or more computers which are connected together to share information and recourses. Topology
Types of Topology Bus Topology Star Topology Ring Topology Mesh Topology Tree Topology Hybrid Topology
A Bus topology consists of a single cable-called a bus Connecting all nodes (Computer) On a network without intervening connectivity device. Bus Topology
Advantages Works well for small network Easy to install and configure Inexpensive Disadvantages Performance decreases Weak signals Cables fails then whole network fails Advantages and Disadvantages of Bus Topology
A star network is designed with is node (File server, workstation, peripheral) Connected directly to a central network hub or server. Star Topology
Advantages Good option for modern networks Low startup costs Multiple cable types supported by hub. Disadvantages Cost of installation is high. If hub fails then entire network will fail Require more cables Advantages and Disadvantages of Star Topology
A Ring topology is one where all workstations and other devices are connected in a continuous loop. There no central server. Ring Topology
Advantages It is cheap to install expand Equal Access to the recourses It performs well under a heavy load Disadvantages Failure of one computer can effect the whole network Difficult to troubleshoot the ring Total dependence in on one cable Advantages and Disadvantages of Ring Topology
It is the mixture of two or more topologies. Therefore it is called hybrid topology. A hybrid topology combines characteristics of linear bus and star and also ring topologies. Hybrid Topology
Advantages Reliable as error detecting and trouble shooting is easy Effective Flexible Disadvantages Complex in design Costly More hardware requirements Advantages and Disadvantages of Hybrid Topology
