of structural features. The circular central block contains a circular core of megabreccia about 1520
meters (Ford, 2012). The impacted breccia is monomitic breccia, which is the result of rock

been under intense movement and very high confining pressures. The angular Horst is an upthrown
block between the two fault blocks and the inner Graben is a downthrown block near the central block

look after their child is a major factor in determining how much trust the child will place in their

Structuralism was founded by E.B. Titchener but only lasted two decades because of newer
movements in the psychology; however it was still know as the first school of thought. Structuralism
is a mode of thinking and a method of analysis practiced in the 20 centruy social sciences and
humanities; it focuses on recurring patterns of thought and behavior, it seeks to analyse social

Being discovered, Gestalt psychology has made significant contributions to the study of perception,
learning and social psychology. This psychology has several principals, and a therapy. Gestalt
psychology came about in the 19th century with its main focus being that of elementistic nature of the
work of Wundt. It is a school of thought that looks at the human mind and behavior as a whole.
Gestalt psychology was emerged as a response to Wilhelm Wundt s structuralism. It utilizes the brain s
tendency to seek a whole in order to understand its parts. Many psychologists after Wundt and
Titchener set out to prove their theories wrong. Gestalt psychologists believe that there is more to
perception than meets the eye. In other words, our perception goes beyond the sensory elements, the
basic physical data provided to the sense organs (Schultz, 2011). The brain definitely has a tendency
both to perceive groupings as wholes and to fill in gaps in order to understand parts.

Synopsis
The play of Medea was written by Seneca around 50 CE. In Greek Myth Medea is the daughter of
King Aeetes of Colchis, granddaughter of Helios and niece of Circe. She seeks revenge on her
husband Jason after he abandons her in Corinth in order to marry Creon s daughter. Over ten years
before the start of the play Medea had met Jason when she assisted him in his quest for the Golden
Fleece using her powers to aid him in impossible tasks that her father had set in front of Jason as his
price for obtaining the Golden Fleece. As assisting Jason meant that she was betraying both her family
and her country she fled with Jason to Thessaly. Their peace did not last long and they were forced to

She is set on getting revenge for the wrongs done against her right from the beginning of the play. The
Medea in Seneca s play is no weak damsel or victim of fate, she is a strong and powerful woman, a
force of nature, who will destroy anyone or anything that wrongs her, even killing her sons without
hesitation or lament. She demands to be feared rather than pitied and does not hesitate to do what she
feels she must in order to right the wrongs against her.
The Chorus Seneca s chorus is objective and does not hesitate in condemning the actions they are
witnessing. This is fine because Medea does not need their sympathy or permission, she is a woman
who makes things happen and does not rely on the gods.
Jason
In my opinion Jason takes the feminine role in the play. He comes across as rather weak and helpless
allowing the fates to dictate his course rather than fighting. He is also too willing to try to help Medea
and to trust her, when she pretends to have a change of heart. Also the fact that at the end of the play
he laments to the gods able why they allow such things to happen, rather than vowing to avenge his
son s deaths, confirms to me that he has taken the feminine role in the play.
