Continent- a major land area on Earth Ocean- a vast body of saltwater that covers nearly ¾ of the Earth’s surface Hemisphere- ½ of the globe which can be divided north and south at the Equator, or east and west at the Prime Meridian Equator- Imaginary line of latitude which divides the world in half north and south Definitions:

Prime Meridian- Imaginary line of longitude that divides the world in half east and west. International Dateline- An imaginary line of longitude at 180°which states the regions to the east are one day earlier in calendar date than the west. North- a cardinal point on the compass; lying on a meridian and to the left of a person facing the rising sun. Definitions:

South- a cardinal point on the compass lying directly opposite north. East- a cardinal point in the compass 90°to the right of north West- a cardinal point on the compass 90 °to the left when facing north- corresponding to where the sun is seen to set. Definitions:
