OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the session, the student will be able to; Identify the use of the common equipment in taking blood pressure. Demonstrate understanding blood pressure. Value the importance of taking blood pressure accurately in maintaining patient’s health.
Vital Signs Taking Blood Pressure
Please watch this short video presentation in understanding how the blood pressure works.
Blood Pressure B.P. The pressure with which the blood flows in the blood vessels.
Equipment needed: Sphygmomanometer Stethoscope
Normal Blood Pressure 120 80 Systolic pressure Diastolic pressure
Systolic pressure The rise of the blood pressure in the arteries.
Diastolic pressure The return of the blood into normal diameter and maintain the blood pressure into lower level.
Hypertension High Blood Pressure or High B.P. This is when the blood pressure is higher than normal blood pressure.
Reasons: Blocking of cholesterol in the artery Stress Improper function of Kidney Smoking Alcohol
To understand more on the lesson let us take a look on this another video presentation.
This Blood Pressure Chart will help you determine your blood pressure status..
Analysis!!!!! Why is it important to read and get the blood pressure of the patient accurately? How does inaccuracy affect the patient’s health in reading the blood pressure?
ABSTRACTION!!! What is the normal blood pressure of an adult? If the blood pressure becomes higher than the normal blood pressure, what will happen to a person? Give at least three reasons of hypertension.
Let’s do it! (Simulation) FINAL TASK…. Please prepare your pen and notebook for this activity…

The rise in the blood pressure in the arteries is called ______. The return of the blood into normal diameter and maintain the blood pressure into lower level is called _______. Your inaccuracy can have dire consequences on the patient’s health, YES or NO? W hy?
AGREMENT/ASSIGNMENT Let’s continue to practicing….. At home, continue practicing on taking vital signs including taking body temperature , taking pulse rate and blood pressure . And be ready for the performance task next meeting.
