GOOD MORNING!!!!   

Classroom rules. (A3Rs3BsS) • Ask questions. • Respect and listen to your classmates. • Respect and listen to the teacher. • Raise your hand to speak. • Be prepared for class. • Be quiet when the teacher is talking. • Be quiet when classmates are talking. • Share new ideas.

Ask; • What is the poem all about? •What are the formulas mentioned in the poem? •Is it important to give exact measurement? •What do you think is our lesson for today?

Find the circumference of a circle. MG-BOW M5ME-IIIi-70

Ask: •What is the story all about? •Who are the characters in the story? •What did Dora and Diego find on their way home? Describe it. •What did the two cousins want to find out? •How they will get thecircumference ? •How big is the fish pond?

What is the importance of giving the exact measurement of things around us?

CIRCLE A circle is a closed plane figure, but unlike a polygon, it is not bounded by line segments. It is made up of points which are equidistant from a fixed point called the center. A circle has many parts. In finding the circumference of a circle, we only need the measure of its diameter or radius.

Diameter , denoted by d, is the distance between two points on a circle which form a straight line passing through its center. Radius , denoted by r, is the distance from the center to any point on the circle. The radius is half the length of the diameter. (r = 𝟏/𝟐 d)

Circumference , denoted by C, is the distance around the circle. The ratio of any circle’s circumference to its diameter is constant, and that is about 𝟐𝟐 𝟕 , or 3.14. This ratio is represented by the Greek letter π (pi). Using the ratio, you can write the formula in finding the circumference of a circle. The investigative activity above showed that 𝑪 𝒅 = 𝜋, where C is the circumference and d is the diameter of the circle.

By multiplying both sides of the equation by d, we get C = π x d. Thus, to find the circumference of a circle: a. If the diameter is given, multiply the diameter by π. Use π = 3.14. C = π x d b. If the radius is given, multiply π by twice the radius. Use π = 3.14. C = 2r x π or C = 2 x π x r

Visualizes and describes surface area and names the unit of measure used for measuring the surface area of cubes and prisms. MG-BOW M6ME-IIIi-91

A cube is square prism. There are six surfaces of a cube. The bases and the faces have equal sizes. Cube has 8 edges and 12 edges. (To get the Surface Area (S.A.) of a cube, the six faces is multiplied to the square of the length or side s). (S.A. = 6s2)

There are six surfaces in a rectangular prism. It is composed of two rectangular bases and four rectangular lateral faces. Rectangular prism has 8 vertices and 12 edges. The surface area of rectangular prism is the total area of the top, bottom, front, back, left side and right side of rectangles. Another way to find the surface area of the rectangular prism is to use the lateral area and base areas. Lateral (L.A.) of a prism is the sum of the areas of lateral faces. It is important to find the lateral area of prism first. Lateral faces are the faces in a prism that are not bases

What is surface area? How do we find the surface area of cubes? Prisms?
