Coryza with loss of taste and smell . Hoarseness, worse in a warm room. Dry cough at night, compelling patients to sit up in bed, recurring when they lie down again. There may be urinary incontinence on coughing. Acute and chronic coryza characterized by: – rhinorrhea during the day, – nose blocked during the night because of dry mucosa, – loss of taste, – loss of smell. These symptoms are aggravated in a warm room and improved in fresh air. Loose cough in the daytime , with thick yellowish mucus. Treatment of bronchitis with bronchorrhea, prevention of recurrent bronchitis with the modalities as described above. CORALLIUM RUBRUM Experimentation shows that Corallium rubrum acts: • mainly on the respiratory mucosa , inducing catarrhal irritation of the cavum, larynx and bronchi; this irritation is manifested by: continual explosive and spasmodic attacks of violent coughing , which appear to be (or are felt as being) induced by exposure to cold air, permanent posterior mucous flow and congestion of the pharynx, – painful swelling of the submandibular glands; CHARACTERISTICS • Sensation that the air breathed into the upper airways is icy cold . • Suffocation before the coughing fit. • Exhaustion after coughing. Spasmodic, explosive cough, induced or aggravated by cold , symptomatic: – either of post-nasal flow (rhinosinusitis or ethmoiditis), – or of seasonal coryza. Infection of the airways, especially infections caused by a respiratory syncytial virus, pertussis with "meditation" and suffocation before the coughing fit, exhaustion afterwards.
