Where Do We Draw the Line? Religion : the punishment for theft is the amputation of a hand under specific conditions. the penalty for engaging in extramarital sexual relations ( zina ) is one hundred lashes for unmarried individuals Death penalti for apostates Morality : The thief could be required to compensate the victim through financial repayment or community service, and encouraging the offender to acknowledge their wrongdoing and seek forgiveness from the victim can serve as a moral deterrent. Zina : Instead of physical punishment, counseling, education, or family guidance could help individuals understand the consequences of their actions on society and relationships. Apostasy : apostates should not be punished because their right and their own belief as long as it s not harmful Law: -Morocco's Penal Code (Articles 505–574) punishes theft based on severity. **Simple theft** carries **1 month to 5 years** of imprisonment and fines, while **aggravated theft** (involving violence or repeat offenses) leads to harsher sentences. -Engaging in sexual relations outside of marriage can result in imprisonment ranging from one month to one year. If one or both parties are married to other individuals, the penalties can be more severe - Apostasy, or renouncing Islam, is not explicitly criminalized under Morocco's Penal Code. While it is considered a serious offense and can be punishable by deathin Saudi Arabia and Iran .
