The main reason behind DC supply in substations is the continuous power supply in the control circuit . DC is a reliable source for current supply because we can get it from the battery. It will continuously supply electricity till it's not discharged. The battery can store electricity power. DC SUPPLY DC is used in substations because the protective device's reaction time is less when operating on DC supply. DC is also used in substations to manage protective devices and high voltage components Direct current (DC) is used in substations to power the substation's brains .
AIR BREAK SWITCH It Is a known break in the power line system that can be manually opened or closed. If closed, electricity flows past the break and on down the line. If the switch is open, electricity from the substation stops at that point.
ELECTRICAL ISOLATOR It is one type of Mechanical switch used to isolate a fraction of the electrical circuit when it is required. Isolator switches are used for opening an electrical circuit in the no-load condition
VACCUM CIRCUIT BREAKER VCB stands for Vacuum Circuit Breaker. It is a switching device that can turn circuits or electrical equipment on or off in normal or emergency modes. VCBs are used in medium voltage applications, where the supply voltage ranges from 11 kV to 33 kV.
CURRENT TRANSFORMER A current transformer (CT) is used for measurement of alternating electric currents. When current in a circuit is too high to apply directly to measuring instruments
LIGHTENING ARRESTER The device which is used for the protection of the equipment at the substations against travelling waves, such type of device is called lightning arrester or surge diverter.
TRANSFORMER Transformer is a static machine, which transforms the potential of alternating current at same frequency. It means the transformer transforms the low voltage into high voltage & high voltage to low voltage at same frequency. It works on the principle of static induction principle.

CONTROL PANEL RELAY A Control & relay panel is designed to provide to control the associated line or transformer through outdoor switchgear at various 11KV and 33KV zonal substations. Complete protection of transformer or feeder Alarm & Auto cut features
Types of Insulators Pin Insulator Suspension Insulator Shackle Insulator An insulator gives support to the overhead line conductors on the poles to prevent the current flow toward earth .
Disc Insulator Polymer Insulator
The fault in the power system is defined as the defect in the power system due to which the current is distracted from the intended path. ELECTRICAL FAULT
Line – Line – Line Fault L – L – L – G (Three-phase line to the ground fault) Symmetrical Fault The fault in the power system is defined as the defect in the power system due to which the current is distracted from the intended path.
Unsymmetrical Fault Single Line-to- Ground Line – to – Line Fault The fault in the power system is defined as the defect in the power system due to which the current is distracted from the intended path. Double Line – to – Ground Fault
