1.Cerebrum: Cerebral Cortex : The outer layer of the cerebrum, responsible for higher-level functions. It's divided into lobes: Frontal Lobe : Controls movement, language, executive functions (planning, reasoning), personality, and emotions. Parietal Lobe : Processes sensory information like touch, temperature, and spatial awareness. Temporal Lobe : Processes auditory information, memory formation, and language comprehension. Occipital Lobe : Primarily responsible for visual processing. Thalamus : Relays sensory information to the cerebral cortex, except for smell. Hypothalamus: Regulates body temperature, hunger, thirst, sleep-wake cycles, and hormone release. Basal Ganglia: Involved in movement control and reward-related behavior.
2. Cerebellum: Coordinates movement, posture, and balance. Contributes to motor learning and procedural memory. 3. Brainstem: Midbrain : Involved in movement, auditory and visual processing, and alertness. Pons : Relays information between the cerebrum and cerebellum, and regulates breathing. Medulla Oblongata : Controls vital functions like heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure. 4. Other important areas: Pituitary Gland : Secretes hormones that regulate growth, reproduction, and other bodily functions. Pineal Gland : Produces melatonin, which regulates sleep-wake cycles.
