2. ABOUT THE CENTER:

3. CONCEPT The Name of Bishan meaning “Mountains made of jade”. Bishan Cultural and Art Center recreates the ancient description of "Bishan" in an abstract way.   It reflects the landscape of the environment. We want it to be a "place" rather than a building.

15. CRYSTAL OR SPIDER WEB FACADE: Glasses that are combines with metal plates and aluminum mesh in different. These façades are placed in the north eastern directions of all the three buildings. Triangular planes creates Chinese traditional pattern called ice crack. Such space can also make the “inner space” eye catching “crystal”. Which also represents the tremendous amount of spider webs found in the forests in the mountains of Shonquing.

16. LIGHTING ANALYSIS The natural lighting of the crystal or the spider web façade which is placed in the north east directions The pattern in the façade , plays with the interiors of the center. The interiors of these façades acts as lobby and lounge areas. Since the entire building is made of glass, the multifunctional halls and other office areas located in the North western direction gets natural lights during the day Other than the natural lighting, artificial lights are provided inside the building and in the auditorium.

17. CIRCULATION ANALYSIS The whole site has contours , so the architect used it to make stairs in between the building that connects to different levels. Each block has various entries and exits and also a lot of staircase to give an effect of mountain climbing.

18. SERVICES There are two elevators and emergency staircases in the smaller blocks. The block with auditorium has elevators and emergency staircases on all sides of entry and exit. There are enough number of toilets provided in each level.
