Official Portal. Ladakh is famous for its unique Indo-Tibetan
culture. Chanting in Sanskrit and Tibetan language forms an
integral part of Ladakh's Buddhist lifestyle. Annual masked
dance festivals, weaving and archery are an important part of
traditional life in Ladakh.

"Culture plays an essential role in the life of a person and society. It acts as a means
of accumulation, storage, and transmission of human experience. It is the culture
that shapes people into who they are as they gain knowledge, learn the language,
symbols, values, norms, customs, and traditions.

A Brief Discussion
The state enjoys the presence of mix religions and that's why Kashmir is
famous for its cultural heritage. It amalgamates Hindu, Sikh, Muslim
and Buddhist people who make Kashmir more beautiful by adopting
their own culture that has brought many changes in their living style.
Jammu region is mainly Hindu and Sikh-based while Ladakh and Leh
are predominantly Buddhist-dominated. you can see Persian and
Central Asian influences predominating this region and its people as
can be seen in sufi music, dances, carpet weaving and in shawl making
RELEGIOUS FOUND
IN J&K
Jammu and Kashmir is the only Indian state
with a Muslim majority population. According to
the 2011 census, Islam is practiced by about
68.3% of the state population, while 28.4%
follow Hinduism and small minorities follow
Sikhism (1.9%), Buddhism (0.9%) and Christianity
(0.3%).
FOOD CULTURE OF J&K
Kashmir has some mouth-watering cuisine in both
vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. The popular
dishes of meat are Kashmiri Kebag, Rogan Josh, Yakhni,
Pasanda, Syun Alu and Methi Keema. All the non-
vegetarian lovers will have a lot to choose from.
FAMOUS DISH OF KASHMIR
Dum Olav or Dum Aaloo, one of the most famous dishes
of Kashmiri food. Dum Aaloo is cooked with yoghurt,
ginger powder, fennel and other hot spices to give it a
unique flavour and aroma. You can have it with chapatis
or naan to get the most out of this all time favourite and
popular Kashmiri cuisine dish.
A traditional kurta and salwar for men actually called the
Khan Dress. In the rest of India, it is famous as a
pathani. Women on the other hand wear Salwar-Kameez
donned with a dupatta. The hair of women is usually
covered with a headscarf.
FAVORITE DRESS OF KASHMIR
The traditional 'Pheran' is the most popular form of
dress among both men and women. Pheran exhibits a lot
of beautiful embroidery work comprising of floral motifs.
