CYBORG INTELLIGENCE RECENT PROGRESS AND FUTURE DIRECTIONS PRESENTED BY: MOHAMED AJMAL SHAREEF

Agenda INTRODUCTION LITERATURE SURVEY METHODOLOGY FUTURE SCOPE AND CONCLUSION REFERENCES

INTRODUCTION CYBORG :-“ CYBERNETIC ORGANISM ” CYBORG is a combination between man and machine A cyborg is a being with both biological and artificial parts. A person whose physiological functioning is aided by or dependen t upon a mechanical or electronic device. A living being whose powers are enhanced by computer implants. >Eg:- A human fitted with a heart pacemaker or an Insulin pump (diabetes) considered as cyborg.

Continue.. The term cyborg was coined by Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960 to refer to their conception of an enhanced human being who could survive in extraterrestrial environments In 2010, the Cyborg Foundation became the world’s first international organization dedicated to help humans become cyborgs. Application of Cyborgs include in Medical Field, Military ,Sports ,Arts , Popular Culture etc.

Continue .. TYPES of cyborg Convenient Cyborg The former Convenient cyborgs may refer to any external provision of an exoskeleton for the satisfying the altered fancy needs of body. Conditional Cyborg This includes bionic implants replanting the lost or damaged body part for the normal living in the present environment.

LITERATURE SURVEY In 2002, under the heading Project Cyborg, a British scientist, Kevin Warwick, had an array of 100 electrodes fired in to his nervous system in order to link his nervous system into the Internet In 2002, Canadian Jens Naumann , also blinded in adulthood In 2004, a British and completely colorblind artist, Neil Harbisson , started wearing an eyeborg on his head in order to hear colors

METHODOLOGY Recent Advances In Cyborg Intelligence Neural Mechanism of the primary somatosensory and primary cortex Cross-model sensation Fusion The novel Cognitive Model for Machine Parts Neural decoding algorithms Encoding approaches Biological reconstruction method Artificial reconstruction method

Sensation augmented rat cyborg Monkey hand-gesture decoding Mind controlled scissor games

Multimodel Sensory Information Fusion and Representation Neural mechanisms underlying multimodal sensory associations Relationships between complicated network and sensation or perception >Tactile-visual >Tactile-tactile Cognitive Computational Model In Brain-Machine Collaboration C ooperative relationships and activities in cyborg intelligent systems using a multiagent methodology Perception motivation motor planning. Continue..

Machine Learning-Based Methods for Brain Information Codecs Decoding and encoding of information Motor Functionality Reconstruction Reconstruct neural and myoelectric signals Replacement for biological actuators and enhance the motor function Continue ..

Sensation-Augmented Rat Cyborgs Animal as the actuators Electrodes implanted in specific brain areas such as the somatosensory cortex and reward area. Vision enhanced Ratbots can precisely and “human-interesting” objects Speech-recognition ratbots can be enhanced with speech understanding capacity and navigate according to human words

Monkey Hand-Gesture Decoding Mind reader Implanted two 96-channel microelectrode arrays into both the premotor and primary motor cortex

Mind-Controlled Rock-Paper-Scissors Game Electrocorticogram (ECoG) based brain-machine integration system to control a prosthetic hand Extracted the power spectrum of high gamma frequency components (80 to 120 Hz) to decode rock-paper-scissors hand movements

FUTURE SCOPE AND CONCLUSION Develop a multimodal sensation integration mechanism and computational model in a large-scale association cortex. Creation of a biologically plausible cognitive model. Verified the basic concept and simplified the computational architecture of cyborg intelligence Integrating biological and machine intelligence into a unified mode of intelligence is challenging but promising goal It act as a boom to human body by improving the quality and the life . It also act as a curse
