Menstrual Cycle By: Aleera R. Marasigan
This is when you shed the lining of your uterus also known as endometrium. This cycle is part of the reproductive system and prepares the female body for a possible pregnancy. People start menstruating at the average age of 10. What is Menstrual Cycle?
Hoaw does it work? A menstrual cycle begins when you get your period or menstruate. This lasts for an average of 28 days. Menstrual cycle has 4 phases.
Phases Menstrual Phase Days 1-5 The uterus sheds its inner lining of soft tissue and blood vessels which exits the body from the vagina in the form of menstrual fluid. Blood loss of 10 ml to 80 ml is considered normal.
Phases Follicular Phase Days 1-13 One of these egg cells begins to mature in a sac-like-structure called follicle. It takes 13 days for the egg cell to reach maturity. Follicle secretes a hormone that stimulates the uterus to develop a lining of blood vessels and soft tissue called endometrium.
Phases Ovulation Phase Day 14 Ovulation is when a mature egg is released from an ovary and moves along a fallopian tube towards your uterus. Egg will stay at the fallopian tube for 12-24 hours.
Phases Luteal Phase Days 15-28 Main purpose is to prepare your ovary for pregnancy. If a sperm cell does not impregnate the egg cell within that time, the egg cell disintegrates.
Thank You for Listening Menstruation is just a way of your body letting go of something that is no longer needed
