Drug Rasa Guna Virya Vipaka Karma Dadima M, A, Ks Laghu , snigdha Ushna Madhura Tridoshhara Dhanyaka Ks, T, M,K Laghu , snigdha Ushna Madhura Tridoshhara Chitraka K Laghu , Ruksha , Tikshana Ushna Katu Kaphavata Samaka Sunthi K Guru, Ruksha Ushna Madhura Kaphavata Samaka Pippali K Laghu , Snigdha , Tikshna Anushna sheeta Madhura Tridosh hara Properties of drug

As Dadima is madhura rasatmaka , the recipe prepared from it became palatable by pregnant women. Shunthi is amapachaka as well dhanyaka possesses dipana and pachana properties along with chitraka – agnimandyahara which helps to break dosha-dushya complex. Most of the herbs from this recipe acts on digestive systems. In anaemia in pregnancy, there is mainly pitta vitiation. Dadima possesses laghu and snigdha properties; madhura , kashaya and amla tastes; madhura vipaka and anushna veerya . It does pittashamana by madhura and kashaya tastes. Dhanyaka is laghu and snigdha properties;kashaya , tikta and madhura rasa; madhuravipaka and ushnaveerya . hence it is tridoshahara , ushna = vatashamana ; kashaya , tikta , madhura = pittashamana , tikta , katu , ushna = kaphashamana . Being antidypsetic , digestive, astringent, liver stimulant and anthelmintic – its useful in emesis, anorexia and indigestion. Bhavaprakasha has described it as it alleviates pitta . Chitraka holds tikshna , laghu , ruksha – properties; katu , tikta – tastes’ katu vipaka and ushna veerya . Because of that it alleviates kapha-vata , but increases pitta , but here it is processed with cow ghee, hence its pitta vardhaka property is reduced. It enhances the circulation of gastric mucus membrane, thus helps in digestion and absorption. Discussion

Shunthi contains laghu and snigdha – properties; katu – taste; madhura vipaka and ushna veerya . Bhavaprakasha has described its use in pandu . It helps in alleviating vata-kapha and pitta . It is appetizer and digestive, hence acts as amapachaka . Pippali acquires laghu , snigdha and tikshna – properties, katu – taste, madhura – vipaka and anushna-sheeta veerya . Hence it balances kapha - vata . Being katu taste and madhura vipaka , it acts on raktadhatu , enhances raktadhatvagni and raktadhatu . It is a good rejuvenator of rakta dhatu . Therefore it is used in this recipe which is useful for anaemia in pregnancy. Ghrita is rasayana and balya , hence its given strength in pregnancy. Thus as a whole this recipe breaks dosha-dushya complex in anaemia in pregnancy and helps to restore health which is ultimately useful for proper nourishment of foetus as well as mother.

A Comparative Clinical Study of the Effect of Dadimadi Ghrita and Ferrous Sulphate in Management of Garbhini Pandu w.s.r . to Anaemia in Pregnancy Dr Neetika Gautam , Dr Jolly Saxena International Journal for Multidisciplinary Research- Nov.- Dec- 2021 Result : The haemoglobin of all the patients who were enrolled in the study was found to be decreased (Between 8gm% to 10gm%), thus the data of all 55 patients has been put to calculation and analysis. When DG and FS was given to the patients, haemoglobin level was increased in all the patients of both the groups. In few patients the rise in Hb % was between 1.0gm% to 1.5gm% (5 patients). In 45 patients the rise in Hb % was between 1.6gm% to 2.5gm%. Both DG and FS increased Hb % in comparable and almost parallel manner. Only in one subject the rise in Hb % was more than 3gm% and this subject belonged to FS group.
