2. REGION The original Dakota lived in North Dakota and South Dakota The Dakota traveled so they also lived in the modern states of Lowa .

3. FOOD They ate buffalos , elk and deers that they hunted . The Dakotas also gathered fruit and potatoes to eat .

4. SHELTER The Dakotas lived in large buffalo-skin tents called tipis.

5. CLOTHING Dakotas women wore long dresses and Dakotas men wore buckskin shirts .

6. WEAPONS AND TOOLS Dakota used bows and arrows , also they used buffalo-hide shields .

7. EVERY DAY LIFE Dakota women were in home and they cooked and cleaned Dakota men were hunters their resposability were feeding and defending their families .

8. TRADITIONS Dakota had various customs and rituals . One dance the Dakota perform for their dead is called the Ghost Dance. The ghost dancer believed that the world would be transformed .
