INTRODUCTION
-Globalization has gained many connotations
pertaining to progress, development and
integration
-Some view globalization as a positive
phenomenon
-Some see it as occurring through and with
regression, colonialism and destabilization

GLOBALIZATION THEORIES
a.Homogeneity
-increasing sameness in the world as cultural
inputs, economic factors, and political
orientations of societies expand to create
common practices, same economics and similar
forms of government.

-In culture, often linked to cultural imperialism.
-In economy, there’s a recognition of spread of
neoliberalism, capitalism, and the market
economy in the world.
-Global economic crises are products of
homogeneity in economic globalization.

movies are perceived as imposed on developing
countries by the West.
-Internet can be seen as an alternative media.

-The process by which Western societies are
dominated by the principles of fast food restaurants.
-Grobalization, in contrast with Glocalization, is a
process wherein nations, corporation, etc impose
themselves on geographic areas in order to gain
profits.

-Creation of various cultural practices, new
economies, and political groups because of the
interaction of elements from different societies in
the world.

-Recent years could be regarded as the
beginnings of globalization with reference to
specific technological advances in transportation
and communication.

ASSIGNMENT:
“ANG MUNDO SA MATA NG OFW”
This activity should be able to let you gain first-hand experiences of OFW, people
who reached other countries. Their stories could provide a concrete understanding
of how globalization affects themselves, their families and their country.
1.Find a former or a current OFW to be interviewed. Your respondent’s name
should not be revealed for confidentiality.
2.Use the ff guide questions in the interview:
a.How long have you stayed abroad?
b.What are the purposes for your stay there?
c.What were your most unforgettable experiences there? How will you describe it, good or bad?
d.How will you compare the Philippines with the country you worked with?
e.Do you want to go back (or stay) abroad in the future? Why or why not?
