It is difficult to define the term ‘state’ since it may different meaning. “The state is a lawful government with sovereign power of different household and their common affairs ” State

By the term ‘sovereignty’ is meant the supreme authority within the State. “Sovereignty is the absolute power & perpetual power of the state, that is, the greatest power to command” By absolute, we mean that no higher authority exists over sovereign. Hence rulers are not bound by the laws, they are bound by the “contracts”. Sovereign States

It means mutual cooperation & avoidance of harm to each other. Preamble of the Charter of the U.N. lays down that States shall live together in peace with one another as good neighbours. A state is also responsible if it causes damage to the environment of the other states or of the areas of beyond the jurisdiction. Principle of Good Neighbourliness

The principle of the equality of the States means that every state is entitled to full respect as a sovereign state by other states. All the sovereign states are equal in status irrespective of their size, population, resources & other distinctive features. Sovereign Equality of States
