Dengue is a viral infection which affects infants ,young children and adults which is transmitted by female mosquito that is Ades aegypri and sometimes Aedes albopictus . Characterised by sudden onset of high fever,headache,back pain joint and muscle pain ,rashes on the back chest and abdomen ,fever returns to normal within a week but may leave a person tired and slightly depressed for a weeks afterward. INTRODUCTION :

Dengue fever also known as breakbone fever, it is a viral infection that spreads from mosquito to people. It is more common in tropical and subtropical climates . EPIDIMIOLOGY : Approximately 400 million cases and 22,000 deaths occur due to dengue worldwide each year DEFINITION :

CLASSIFICATION :

Dengue is a viral infection caused by the dengue virus (DENV),transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes. It is caused by any four types of dengue virus(DENV-1,DENV -2,DEN-3,DEN-4 ) and is transmitted through infected female aedes mosquitoes. E TIOLOGY :

Abrupt onset of high fever Severe frontal headache Muscle and joint pains Loss of sense of taste and appetite Rashes over the chest and upper limbs Nausea and vomiting SIGNS/SYMPTOMS :

Severe dengue symptoms are: Frequent vomitting with or without blood Bleeding from nose,mouth,skin and skin rashes Dry mouth Rapid weak pulse Difficulty in breathing Continued….

PATHOPHYSILOGY :

Consideration of the patient’s symptoms and medical history Blood tests By considering the symptoms such as joint and muscle pains ,body temperature ,severe headache ,rashes and nausea. Ns1 test – Dengue antigen test DIAGNOSIS :

PREVENTION :

There is no specific medicine for dengue Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration Paracetamol (acetaminophen ) can relieve pain and reduce fever Manage symptoms with rest ,fluids ,pain relievers TREATMENT :

A 6 year old female patient bearing IP no.20247610 was admitted in the pediatrics department on 04/03/24 with the chief complaint of c/o fever since 3 days c/o vomittings since 2 days c/o burning micturation since 2 days . DEMOGRAPHIC DETAILS :

Based o chief complaints patient has confirmed as dengue fever By using laboratory investigations and parameters Inj. ceftriaxone-To treat bacterial infection Inj. Ondansetron -to prevent nausea Inj.PCT-mild analgesic and to treat fever Syp.PCT-used to reduce fever Inj. pantop -used to reduce excess acid in stomach ASSESSMENT :

Monitor body temperature and vital signs and platelet count regularly . suggest to consume foods that can help boost immunity and increase platelet count Suggest to consume papaya leaf extract to increase in platelet count. PLAN :

PATIENT SPECIFIC GOAL : To prevent the further complications of dengue hemorrhagic fever , shock etc LIFE STYLE MODIFICATIONS : Wear a protective clothing and use mosquito repellant DIET; low fat, low fiber , and fruits such as kiwi pomegranate and vegetables such as carrot and beet root. Take adequate rest Goals of treatment :
