Introduction 1

Introduction Dengue is viral infection , transmitted to the humans through bite of infected mosquitoes . Estimated infections occuring per year: 100-400 million. Average fatality case is around 5% (22000).

Transmission from mosquito to human 02

Transmission occurs through bites of infected female mosquitoes called Aedes aegypti. After feeding on DENV person the virus replicates in midgut , certainly carrying out its effect into Saliva . Host time taken for actual transmission is termed as “Extrinsic Incubation Period” EIP takes about 8-12 days Once infectious, the mosquito can transmit virus for rest of its life. Prevention Clothes that covers body as much possible Mosquito nets should be used while sleeping or do use of repellents. Window screens “ Dengvaxia ” vaccine is recommended to the people living in the region where dengue is common.
