Introduction Dengue is viral infection , transmitted to the humans through bite of infected mosquitoes . Estimated infections occuring per year: 100-400 million. Average fatality case is around 5% (22000).

Transmission occurs through bites of infected female mosquitoes called Aedes aegypti. After feeding on DENV person the virus replicates in midgut , certainly carrying out its effect into Saliva . Host time taken for actual transmission is termed as “Extrinsic Incubation Period” EIP takes about 8-12 days Once infectious, the mosquito can transmit virus for rest of its life.
