Project Overview
The Denpasar Sewerage Development Project (DSDP) is a large-scale
infrastructure initiative designed to improve wastewater management in Bali. It
provides centralized sewage collection, treatment, and disposal systems for
Denpasar, Sanur, and Kuta areas, ensuring better sanitation, cleaner
environments, and support for Bali’s tourism industry.

Objectives
●​Improve environmental quality by reducing river, groundwater, and
coastal pollution.​
●​Enhance public health through proper wastewater treatment.​

●​Support sustainable tourism in Bali by ensuring international sanitation
standards.​

●​Strengthen urban infrastructure for long-term population growth and
urbanization.​


Scope & Components
●​Construction of centralized wastewater treatment plants (IPAL).​

●​Development of primary, secondary, and tertiary sewer networks.​

●​Installation of household and commercial connections.​

●​Operation of pumping stations to manage wastewater flow.​

●​Capacity building and institutional strengthening for wastewater
management.

Project Phases
●​Phase I (2004–2008): Initial sewer network and treatment plant (capacity
~51,000 m³/day).​

●​Phase II (2010–2014): Expansion of service coverage, household
connections, and supporting infrastructure.​

●​Future Plans: Network expansion and upgrading of treatment facilities
to meet increasing demand.
