Thar Desert Thar Desert, also called Great Indian Desert, arid region of rolling sand hills on the Indian subcontinent. It is located partly in Rajasthan state, northwestern India, and partly in Punjab and Sindh (Sind) provinces, eastern Pakistan . Within Pakistan's Punjab province, the Thar continues as the Cholistan  Desert . The desert comprises a very dry part, the Marusthali region in the west, and a semidesert region in the east with fewer sand dunes and slightly more precipitation. Thal desert The Thal desert is situated in Punjab, Pakistan. The vast expanse is located between the Jhelum and Sindh rivers near the  Pothohar Plateau, with a total length from north to south 190 miles, and a maximum breadth of 70 miles (110 km) and minimum breadth 20 miles . The Thar Desert, which spreads from Pakistan into India, is the world's 18th largest desert. In Pakistan, the desert extends over southeastern part of Punjab, and eastern part of Sindh. Towards the south of the desert is a salt marsh known as Rann of Kutch. The Indus river flows to the west of the desert.

Kharan Desert The  Kharan Desert i s a sandy and mountainous desert situated in Balochistan province in south-western Pakistan. This desert was the site of Pakistan's second nuclear test, Chagai -II, which was carried out on. The   KharaDesert  area consists of shifting sand dunes with an underlying pebble-conglomerate floor. The moving dunes reach heights of between 15 and 30 meters.The area is known particularly for its constant mirage and sudden severe sand-storms
