Develop keyboard skill

Develop keyboard skill Computer Keyboard and Proper Finger Positioning What is keyboard? A keyboard is a peripheral device that enables a user to input text into a computer or any other electronic machinery. A keyboard is an input device and is the most basic way for the user to communicate with a computer..

Cont… This device is patterned after its predecessor, the typewriter, from which the keyboard inherited its layout, although the keys or letters are arranged to function as electronic switches. The keys include punctuation, alphanumeric and special keys like the Windows key and various multimedia keys, which have specific functions assigned to them.

The four types of Keyboards 1. QWERTY QWERTY is a layout that was created for typewriting machines. It is the combination of keys in a specific order (as the image shows ). QWERTY is an old layout. It was created in the 1870s by Christopher Latham Sholes. It was the first layout ever created. Even though it is an old layout, QWERTY is still used by most people.

cont. 2 . AZERTY A keyboard layout used in France and neighboring countries. A , Z, E, R, T and Y are the letters on the top left, alphabetic row. AZERTY is similar to the QWERTY layout, except that Q and A are swapped, Z and W are swapped and M is in the middle row instead of the bottom one.

cont. 3 . DVORAK  Dvorak refers to an alternate keyboard layout which is more efficient than the standard QWERTY layout. It  rearranges the keys on the keyboard so that the highest frequency keys are located on the home row, with lower frequency keys on the other rows . The world record for fastest typing was set using a Dvorak keyboard. Barbara Blackburn of Salem, Oregon, achieved cruising speeds of 150 to 170 words per minute, that's an incredible 17+ key presses per second! World’s Fastest Typist

cont. 4 . QWERTZ The QWERTZ keyboard can be identified by looking at the first six letters: Q, W, E, R, T, and Z (not Y, like the QWERTY keyboard). The left and right Ctrl keys are replaced by the Strg , German for Steuerung . Unlike Ctrl , which is called 'control', Strg is known as S-T-R-G, not Steuerung . Strg is German for Steuerung and is what the QWERTZ layout uses to label the left and right Ctrl on the keyboard. The Ctrl and Strg keys operate the same way.

Functions Escape Control Shift Capitals lock Spacebar Windows Menu Backspace Enter PrintScreen Scroll Indicators Arrow keys Numeric Keys Alternate Tab

Control (Ctrl) Alternate(Alt) It is used to combine with other keys to perform a specific task . Shift Capitalized a letter or allows you to use the upper symbol in number keys when combined with other keys. .

Parts of Keyboard Home row Keys where hands are at rest when typing. Spacebar It moves cursor forward one space at a time, leaving a blank space. Enter / Return It moves cursor to the next line for typing. Arrow / Direction keys It moves cursor left, right, up and down without erasing text
