DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION AND GENERAL COMMUNICATION

Communication can be divided into two kinds: General Communication Technical Communication

Technical writing and General writing are different from each other from various points of view. Some basic differences are : PURPOSE – Technical writing and General writing differ on purpose. General writings including poetry, novel, drama, short story and some other types of writing aim at amusing and inspiring the readers but the technical documents including report, resume, proposal etc. aim at imparting information, some instructions and explanations.

2. STYLE - General or literary writings - cast in personal or subjective style, whereas technical or professional writings- free from personal bias. Objective or impersonal style is the hall mark of technical writing. General writing- highly imaginative, employing figurative word usage and symbolism or fictitious facts and characters, whereas technical document- based on facts . Style of Technical writing- accurate & precise, General writing- poetic , decorative and bombastic . 3. LANGUAGE - Technical writing-simple but effective, general writing- extravagant and pompous words 4. VOCABULARY- Any in General communication, specific/jargon in technical communication
