2. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION EXTRAS CASUALITY It deals with the patient who is in an emergency situation The patient are assessed based on their degree of injury. This is a 24*7 hours working department ANAESTHETICS Doctors in these, administer anaesthesia to the patient before various surgeries. Before surgery. During critical care treatment. CARDIOLOGY This deals with the problems of the human heart or circulation. ECG and exercise tests are taken. Ultrasound scan of the heart are taken. Insertion of pacemaker. Coronary Angiography are taken. CRITICAL CARE It provides treatment for seriously ill patients. Certain patients in these needs to be monitored closely. Patients are transferred from any other dept., to the ICU incase of any serious condition.

3. EARS,NOSE AND THROAT This dept., deals with ailment concerned with the Ear, Nose and Throat. General ear, nose and throat disease. Neck lumps Cancer in the head and neck area. GERIATRICS This dept., provides treatment to elder or aged people. This involves home visits, mobile therapy unit etc., Stroke Diabetes Bone disease. Syncope GASTROENTEROLOGY This deals with bowel related-medicine. It is usually run by a specialist doctor. Special nurses are usually posted in this dept,. Colorectal surgery. Inflammatory bowel disease. Swallowing disease. GENERAL SURGERY This dept treats variety of sugical procedures. It needs a special surgeon. Day surgery. Thyroid and colon surgery. Endoscopy. GYNAECOLOGY It treats the problem in female urinary tract. This needs an special ward for treatment.

4. HEMATOLOGY This dept works near to the hospital laboratory. Hematology includes the studies for oncology. It includes the source that affects the blood cells , blood protein and coagulation mechanism. MATERNAL/ NEONATAL/ PAEDIATRICS This dept concerns with the birth and child care. This is a divided dept., but mostly as one dept., Child birth. Midwifery. Antenatal and post natal care. NEUROLOGY This dept concerns with the human nervous system. Here patient’s medical history is necessary. Here spinal cord ,brain are tested. ONCOLOGY It involves the investigation and treatment of all kind of cancers. It always linked with all departments . It requires qualified doctors. OPTHAMOLOGY It involves the treatment and investigation of eye problems of adults and children. It include: Laser treatment Optometry Orthoptics

5. ORTHOPEDICS It deals the treatment with muscoskeletal system. Servicing includes bone setting ,hip replacement. It involves treating bones, muscle, tendons and nerves. UROLOGY It is a surgical dept,. Services includes: Flexible cystoscopy bladder checks Urodynamic research. Shock wave lithiotripsy to break up kidney stones. PSYCHIATRY This dept includes investment and treatment of mentally ill patients. It includes: Providing psychosocial counselling. Conducing IQ test. OUTPATIENT In these, people only come to consult. This dept, works only for limited hours. The patient demand their problems and get the prescription for a short time duration. INPATIENT In these,patient needs to stay atleast overnight. The patient history is taken and case sheet is prepared. The duration of stay depends on the degree of severity.

6. CENTRAL STERILIZATION UNIT This dept is incharge of keeping all the instruments clean and sterilised for prevention. Here strict procedure are followed for sterilizing medical instruments. HOUSEKEEPING This dept is in charge of keeping the hospital clean and tidy. Strict procedure follows. It includes laundry and cleaning of hospital rooms and effective disposal of mediwaste. CATERING AND FOOD SERVICES This dept provides food services to inpatient, their families and hospital staff. Here nutrition based menu is provided by the Nutrition Department. MEDICAL SOCIAL WORK This dept addresses the challenges families face, increase accessibility to health care. It seves as a bridge between the doctors, and the individual, family and community. PHYSIOTHERAPY This dept aims at rehabilitating patients. Services to both in and outgoing patients. This dept is mostly related to ortopaedics that will help the patient to recover better.

7. PHARMACY Every hospital must be equipped with a pharmacy to provide drugs for entire hos., It provides medication and instruments used by all the departments in the hos, for patientcare. NUTRITION AND DIETITICS It is manned with specialist to give nutrition and dietetics for in and out patients. They are provide a dietary chart to the hospital canteen to follow. MICROBIOLOGY This dept deals with microbial and viral aspects of medicine. This is very important dept., as the number of hospital-acquired infections is on rise. DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING It involves: General raiology Ultrasound scans Angiography. MRI scanning Mammography. CT scans. Patients of above are sent to these, as the other dept does not have any medical instrument related to diagnostic imaging.

8. MEDICAL RECORDS This dept deals with recording, and maintaining all the records of both. With the help of reference for future propose by formulating the medical statistics. MEDICAL MAINTAINENCE AND ENGINEERING This dept makes sure that the hospital is in operable condition. It makes plans and Carries out various projects for the hospital. They make sure that electrical facilties are proper or not. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATION All hosptials today use computers to keep track of patient records and other medical related Affairs. It is responsible of technical support and keep system updated. HUMAN RESOURCE This dept is for recruiting efficint human resource for the hospital. They also create policies and procedures to the staff to follow . FINANCE This dept is looking after all the financial aspects of hospital. They make Budgets, financial plans for future and allocate financial resources to various dept. ADMINISTRATION This dept is responsible for day to day operation of the hospital. They look after all the paper work and ensure every dept follows or not.
