Different Types of Pheasants You Should Know Pheasants are some of the most spectacular birds in the world, known for their wild colors and impressive plumage. From the common Ring-necked Pheasant to the surreal Golden Pheasant, these game birds belong to various genera within the Phasianinae subfamily. KF by Kingsley Felix

Common Pheasant Appearance Males feature green-blue heads, bright red facial wattles, and a white neck ring with coppery brown bodies. Habitat Originally from Eurasia but introduced worldwide including Europe, North America, and Japan. Diet Omnivorous, eating seeds, grains, berries, fruits, insects, and young plant shoots. Breeding Polygynous mating system with breeding season in early spring, from mid-March to early April.
