SR.NO. SOCIETY COMMUNITY 1. It is a web of social relationship. It consist of specific group of individual living in a particular area with the “ We- Feeling”. 2. Society is Wider. Community is smaller than society. 3. Community sentiments may be present or may not be Present. Community sentiments is essential component of each community. 4. Both Likeness & Differences present in community. Likeness is more important than differences in community. 5. In a society common interest & objectives are not necessary. In a community common agreement of interests & objective is necessary. 6. There is a high diversity among members, hence it is heterogeneous. There is minimum diversity, hence it is rather homogeneous. 7. Permanency not present. Is relatively more stable and permanent 8. May have their own rules & regulation to regulate the relations of their members, they may have written or unwritten rules. Regulates the behaviour of its members by means of customs, traditions etc it does not have any written rules & regulations. 9. Common interests & common objectives are not necessary. Common agreement of interests & objectives is necessary. 10. Society is Abstract. Community is Concrete.

SR.NO. SOCIETY ASSOCIATION 1. Society is a web of social relationship Association means a group of person collected together with some particular aim or goal. 2. Society may be organized or unorganized. Association always organized. 3. Man cannot live in the absence of a society, society will exist as long as long as man exist. A man may be live without any association. 4. Society is based on co-operation & conflict both. Association is only based on Co- Operation . 5. The aim of society is general. The aim of association is particular. 6. Society is formed for welfare of mass. Association is formed to full fill some goals or needs. 7. Society is Permanent. Association is temporary in nature. 8. Membership is compulsory. Membership is voluntary. 9. Society functions through customs, traditions & Unwritten laws. Associations functions through formal rules & regulation. 10. Society is a system of social relationship, it emphasizes on relationship. Association is a group of people, it emphasizes on grouping.

Community sentiments is not a essential feature in association. 6. It works through customs & traditions office is not necessary to constitute a community. It works through written code of conduct, office is necessary to constitute a association. 7. It have a Geographical area. Does not have Geographical area. 8. May not have a legal status. May have a legal status. 9. May not have any specific goal & aim for interaction among member. May have a specific goal & purpose among members. 10. Community has no board of directors. Association have board of directors.
