3. 14-Nov-15 3 What is Digital India ? Digital India  is an initiative by the Government of  India  to ensure that Government services are made available to citizens electronically by improving online infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity. It was launched on July 1, 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . ‘ Digital India’ is a central programme to make India ready for a knowledge-based future. The focus of the Rs. 1.13 lakh crore initiative is on using technology to create a participative, transparent and responsive government.

Purpose:- 14-Nov-15 4 Digital Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen Governance & Services on Demand Digital Empowerment of Citizens This includes providing high-speed internet, mobile phone and bank account enabling participation in digital & financial space, shareable private space on a public cloud, and creating safe and secure cyber space. The programme aims to take digital literacy to the next level, and will focus on finding ways to encourage people to opt for cashless financial transactions. The initiative also aims at seamless integration across departments/jurisdictions, and ensuring availability of services in real time from online and mobile platforms.

6. Services :- 14-Nov-15 6 Digi Locker : Digital Locker facility will help citizens to digitally store their important documents like PAN card, passport, mark sheets and degree certificates. Digital Locker will provide secure access to Government issued documents. MyGov.in : MyGov.in as an an online platform to engage citizens in governance through a " Discuss, Do and Disseminate" approach . Swachh Bharat Mission Mobile app to achieve the goals set by this mission . e-Hospital system for important healthcare services such as online registration, fee payment, fixing doctors' appointments, online diagnostics and checking blood availability online . National Scholarship Portal for beneficiaries from submission of application to verification, sanction and disbursal.

7. Partnerships :- 14-Nov-15 7 Digital India Week : Reliance Industries Chairman  Mukesh Ambani said his company would invest  2.5   lakh crore across different Digital India heads. Bharti Group chief  Sunil Mittal committed investments of more than  1   lakh crore   in the next five years to create deeper infrastructure in rural and urban India in the areas of  e-health and e-education . Silicon Valley : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the Digital India dinner in San Jose, California 26 Sept 2015 .  Facebook's CEO,  Mark Zuckerberg , changed his DP in support of Digital India and started a chain on Facebook and promised to work on Wi-Fi Hotspots in rural India .  Google committed to provide broadband connectivity on 500 railway stations in India . Microsoft  agreed to provide broadband connectivity to five hundred thousand villages in India

9. 14-Nov-15 9 Conclusion :- Implementation of suitable preservation strategy for digital data and documents is required for our country. Collaborative efforts and sharing information will help preservation rather than duplication. Online medical consultation, Online cash, loan, relief payment with mobile banking, National Cyber Security Co-ordination Center are the taget of digital india . Through MyGov.in 2-way communication between citizens and government is possible.
