Disaster risk management

aims After studying this course, the learner is expected to be able to: Explain the difference between risk and risk. Explain the difference between the three words urgency, emergency and emergency. Express the relationship between vulnerability, capacity and risk.

Titles Introduction History danger Vulnerability Capacity the danger Urgency Blah crisis Tragedy

history The Disaster Risk Management Office officially started its activity in 1989 Health transformation plan since 1993 and with the announcement of health team services in cities, suburbs and rural areas, the integration of disaster risk management programs in the health system was included in the level 1 health service package. Disaster risk management programs are among the 15th programs of the announced transformation plan in the field of deputy health.

(Hazard)   A hazard is a physical event, phenomenon or human activity that can potentially cause damage (of course, not necessarily!)

(Vulnerability) Vulnerability is a condition that causes a society to be affected and damaged by the adverse effects of a hazard. These conditions can be physical, social, economic, environmental or related to management processes.

Vulnerability can occur in the following 4 general groups: Functional components: program, knowledge of people Structural components: wall, roof and column Non-structural components: facilities, equipment and decoration. Individual vulnerability: being old, pregnant, being a child, being disabled and being sick

( Capacity ) It means positive factors that increase our ability to deal with risks. Such as having enough information, having an emergency bag at home, conducting an earthquake drill at home, etc.

(Risk) The greater the probability of a hazard and its severity, as well as our vulnerability, but the less prepared we are, the more likely we will be killed or injured, or our property will be damaged. In this case, we say that we are facing a high risk.

(Emergency ) It is an event whose management requires a process or facilities other than current management. (Disaster) It is an emergency that requires an ability beyond the ability of the society to answer it.

Crisis It is equivalent to the word Crisis. This term is not used in health sciences (except in issues such as blood pressure, hyperthyroidism and mental illnesses) and is currently used in the field of social and economic issues. However, in Persian conversation, it is sometimes used instead of the words urgency and disaster.

(Catastrophe) The highest level of urgency is compared to society's tolerance. When all the infrastructure in a society is destroyed due to a disaster.

conclusion Risk is the consequences of hazards that cause harm and damage. It is a natural and unnatural and man-made phenomenon. By using the capacities and facilities available in the region and village, it is possible to help improve conditions and prevent damages caused by hazards. In the three stages of emergency, calamity and disaster, responding to the incident must be done with the necessary coordination between the relevant bodies and efficient management.
