INTRODUCTION DISCHARGE PRINTING IS A SURFACE COLOURING TECHNIQUE IT’S SUCH A STYLE OF PRINTING THAT’S IT IS ALSO CALLED “EXTRACT PRINTING” DISCHARGE PRINTING IS IN A MANNER IN WHICH A PARTICULAR PRINTED EFFECT PATTERN IS PRODUCED ON THE FABRIC THE FABRIC IS DYED IN A PIECE AND THEN PRINTED WITH A CHEMICAL THAT WILL DESTROY THE COLOUR IN DESIGNED AREA.

It is somewhat similar to bleaching in a design, except it doesn’t damage the fibres like bleaching would. It’s results in an “ extremely soft print ”. I t is a great way to achieve colours on dark garments . The discharge chemical can be made by roller or screen method also. The best fabric for discharge printing is pure cotton

THE USUAL METHOD OF PRODUCING DISCHARGE PRINTS IS TO PRINT THE DESIGNS LIKE :- POLKA DOTS WITH A PASTE CONTAINING A REDUCING AGENT + GOOD WASHING TO REMOVE THE BY PRODUCT OF THE REACTION SOMETIMES THE BASE COLOUR IS REMOVED AND ANOTHER COLOUR IS PRINTED ON IT.

ADVANTAGES OF DISCHARGE STYLE OF PRINTING Very cool technique that removes the dye from the shirt Vibrant colours of the print on the shirt The best way to print on dark shirts with non-traditional inks Something different from screen printing “norms ”

DISADVANTAGES OF DISCHARGE STYLE OF PRINTING Some styles may not discharge better than others Can be hard to use for photographic style or process printing Only works on natural fibers , like cotton , Not all shirt colors will discharge (royal blue never works well, for example) Process can be quirky They are not widely use as the production cost is high.

THE MOST IMPORTANT METHOD OF DISCHARGING ARE BASED ON REDUCING AGENT OR DISCHARGING AGENT THE REDUCING AGENT IS “ZINC-FORMULDEHYDE” AND “FORMALDEHYDE SULPHOXYLATES” USED FOR REMOVING DYE IN DISCHARGE PROCESS THOUGH DISCHARGE INK WILL NOT DISCHARGE POLYSTER. DISCHARGE CHEMICAL
