OBJECTIVES: This activity serves as a venue for you and your classmates to experience an activity on problem solving. It aims to orient you with how a counselor would equip his or her client with a skills important in coping with life.
Clientele and audience in counseling Counseling is helping profession that caters to the needs of individuals or group of individuals. Most often, people who seek counseling are overwelled by emotions: pain, desperation, or sadness. It is common for clients to share feelings about losing control of their lives. These clients are overwhelmed by uncertainties about their future.
individuals In the school settings, counseling is provided by the guidance and counseling department .Guidance and counseling services in elementary often deal with pupils’ concerns. Most of which are behavioral. On the other hand, counseling services offered in high school and college are primarily about career or relationships.
Group and organization
THE GROUP CLIENTELE OF COUNSELING CONSISTSOF PEOPLE WHO EITHER SAME FAMILIAR OR BENEFITS FROM GIVING SUPPORT TO ONE ANOTHER.A PROGRAM IS PREPARED FOR THESE GROUPS TO ASSIST THEM IN THE DIFFICULTIES THEY ENCOUNTER.THESE ARE SOME OF THE GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS A COUNSELOR REACHES OUT TO.

SETTING IN COUNSELING professional councilors are trained and licensed to provide phycological services in different settings. They the characteristics of the clients, their needs, and the environment that shapes these individuals.
These are some the settings where professional counselor provide services.
1.Government setting Guidance councilors in the government sector usually work in collaboration with the social workers. They provide counseling and other guidance services to individual referred by government agencies to address the socio-emotional needs.
2. Private practice Guidance councilors may also have either part time or full time private practice. They may practice as individual or in partnership with other group, where they may devote themselves in specialized counseling that addresses concern such as addiction, abuse or crisis.
3.Civil Society - civil society means the general population or the public, Which my include municipalities. Example of professional counselors who work in this setting are pastoral counselors those who works in parishes and churches. They provide counseling services to individual with concerns relevant to issues of morality or spiritual concern.
Schools professional councilors in the school setting provide program and services that address the cognitive, social, emotional,moral,and spiritual needs of students. Aside from this, councilors provide activities to help student cope with their academic requirements and challenges
Community A community include a group of people in a certain place or area. Counselors in the community setting deal with diverse group and a number of social concerns ranging from development needs to crisis requiring immediate attention. Community councilors address crisis such as suicidal tendencies of a referred individual or drug dependency of either an individual or a group. They also respond to facilitative concerns like job placement and martial conflict

Counseling Services -To promote and support the clients holistic growth and development, counseling Services are provided to individuals from different settings: school, community, industry, or government. Professional counselors provide various services to address social , emotional, and phycological concern of their clients. These include following:
Counseling is a hearth of guidance services. This means that it is a core activity provided by councilors, which makes the other services meaningful(Gibson and Mitchell,1995). Counseling is focused on the individual's adjustment ,growth, and development of problem-solving and decision making skills
Orientation and information services In the school setting, the guidance program is considered an essential component of the education system. Hence , the clients must be informed of the Services provided by the councilors.
Psychological testing services professional councilors also administer psychological testing. This includes the administration, scoring, and interpretation of standardized test this is usually provided to assess the clients cognitive aspect, interest, socio-emotional being, or behavior tendencies
Follow-up services when a client has availed counseling Services, a follow up counseling is provided, this is to determine if counseling goal were achieved. Follow up services is also given to special groups of students such us as honor students, those with academic difficulties, and those who are considered shifters or transferees in the college level.
Career development and placement services professional councilors provide career assistant to help clients in job related issues or concerns. In the school setting, career guidance services is provided to those who are having difficulty in choosing an academic program or course in college.
Individual inventory services This primary given to obtain pertinent information from the clients, Which is helpful to the councilor when the client seeks for counseling. The cumulative record is the form utilized to obtain pertinent information about the students and and it is usually given prior to the counseling session
Referral services the professional counselors provides referral services. This is the process of supporting the clients to find the professional expert who may provide specific assistance to an identified or concern. It both school and non school setting, the councilors may consider this service if he or she believes that the client problem go beyond his or her expertise
RESEARCH AND EVALUATION Research and evaluation are systematic process of collecting, analyzing, and using the gathered data to determine the impact and effectiveness of the guidance program.
Counseling process The dynamics of the counseling process in influenced by therapeutic factors or the active ingredients or core elements in every therapeutic approach. STAGE1.
